Orphan Initiatives in Egypt

Egypt is home to 1.7 million orphaned children. Many of them engage in labour activities because their economic situation makes it necessary for them to do so. The roots of the problem are numerous, but the lack of proper training for caregivers and personnel inside Egyptian orphanages is cited as a key factor by both government officials and independent children’s-rights activists.

Our Coptic Orphan initiatives focus on helping provide for children most likely to face the deadly combination of poverty and social injustice, yet who have the greatest potential to change their lives and the lives of others. Our initiatives play a small role in helping children grow up in safe environments and set them up for a better future.
